I engineered a high-performance, multi-functional digital platform for First String using WordPress and the Enfold theme. This project went far beyond a standard retail site; it required a robust, dual-purpose architecture capable of serving both direct consumers and a massive national dealer network. I focused on a professional, “pro-shop” aesthetic that establishes immediate technical authority, ensuring that whether a customer is looking for standard gear or a high-end dealer is placing a bulk order, the experience is seamless and high-speed.

The centerpiece of the build is the Integrated Custom String Customizer, a technical tool that allows users to visualize and build personalized strings with real-time feedback. Beyond the consumer-facing side, I developed a Secure Dealer Ecosystem, featuring specialized access for General Dealers and a dedicated Bass Pro Dealers area. This ensures that First String’s corporate partners have a streamlined, gated environment for order management and resource access, positioning the brand as a leader in the precision athletic and archery supply industry.

The Challenge

In the world of high-performance archery and athletic supplies, “custom” means complexity. The primary challenge was to organize thousands of product permutations—material, length, color, and serve type—into an interface that feels simple to the end-user. Furthermore, we had to solve the puzzle of managing a multi-tier dealer network, ensuring that Bass Pro Dealers and independent shops have a friction-free path to wholesale pricing and specialized inventory that remains completely invisible to the general public.

The Strategy

The design strategy focused on “Technical Ease of Use.” We prioritized a layout that moves the user quickly from curiosity to configuration. By using a bold, high-contrast visual language and clear “Member/Dealer” entry points, we established a hierarchy that serves the casual browser and the professional partner with equal efficiency. The UI strategy relied on “Guided Utility,” ensuring that the complex Customizer tool feels intuitive rather than intimidating.
