Columbus Audiology & Hearing Aid Center

WordPress Design, Clinical Patient Architecture, and Hearing Health Strategy.

I designed a professional and compassionate digital presence for Columbus Audiology using WordPress and the Enfold theme. For a specialized medical practice focused on hearing health and audiology, the website needed to balance clinical authority with an empathetic, highly accessible user experience. I focused on a clean, reassuring aesthetic, utilizing a soft color palette, intuitive navigation, and high-contrast typography to ensure that patients—many of whom are seniors navigating hearing loss—can easily read and interact with the site from any device.

Beyond the visual structure, I engineered the platform to serve as a comprehensive patient resource. I organized their diverse services—from diagnostic hearing evaluations and tinnitus management to hearing aid fittings and pediatric care—into a clear, multi-tiered navigation system. By prioritizing a mobile-responsive architecture, I ensured that patients and their families can access critical care information, review provider bios, or securely request an appointment with ease, establishing Columbus Audiology as the premier destination for hearing healthcare in the region.

Columbus Audiology & Hearing Aid Center

“For a specialized medical practice like Columbus Audiology, the website is often the first point of care. I focused on a design that reflects the empathy and clinical precision of their team, ensuring that from the first click, every patient feels they’ve found a trusted partner to help them reconnect with the sounds of their life.” — Doug Walker

The Challenge

Audiology is a highly specialized medical field, and seeking treatment for hearing loss can often be an overwhelming or sensitive experience for patients. The challenge for Columbus Audiology was to present advanced diagnostic capabilities and hearing aid technology without the site feeling like a cold, intimidating medical journal. We had to solve the puzzle of making technical information (like OAEs, ABR testing, and Bluetooth-enabled hearing aids) easy to understand, while ensuring the user interface remained frictionless for an older demographic that might struggle with complex digital navigation.

The Strategy

The design strategy focused on “Clinical Accessibility.” We prioritized a layout that immediately communicates understanding, expertise, and ease of use. By creating distinct, easy-to-navigate pathways for Diagnostic Testing, Hearing Aids, and Tinnitus Treatment, we ensured that users could quickly find information relevant to their specific condition. The visual strategy relied on welcoming provider photography, clear service breakdowns, and high-visibility “Schedule an Appointment” triggers, significantly reducing the friction for patients taking that vital first step toward better hearing.

The Solution
  • Service-Specific Silos: Dedicated, easy-to-read sections for Hearing Evaluations, Tinnitus Management, and Pediatric Audiology to maximize user clarity and local search engine authority.
  • Hearing Aid Technology Hub: A structured architecture detailing different hearing aid styles, Bluetooth connectivity features, and repair services to help patients make informed decisions before their visit.
  • Streamlined Patient Intake: High-visibility contact systems and secure appointment request forms designed to reduce administrative friction and capture high-intent inquiries.
  • Accessible Clinical UI: A fast-loading, mobile-optimized design built on the Enfold theme that prioritizes large, legible text and clear navigation paths for users of all technical abilities.
