READ Salads

WordPress Design, Elementor Customization, and Consumer Brand Strategy.

I designed a fresh, visually engaging digital platform for READ Salads using WordPress and Elementor. Unlike many of my other builds that utilize the Enfold theme, this project leveraged the flexibility of the Elementor page builder to create a highly customized, consumer-centric experience. I focused on a vibrant, food-first aesthetic that showcases their iconic 3 Bean, 4 Bean, and German Potato salads through high-resolution product photography and an interactive recipe database.

To improve the customer journey, I engineered a robust Recipe Hub and an integrated Store Locator, making it effortless for fans to find meal inspiration and identify where to purchase READ products nearby. I prioritized a fast, mobile-responsive architecture to ensure that shoppers can pull up recipes or find store locations while in the grocery aisle. By combining bold branding with a clean, intuitive UI, I provided READ Salads with a modern digital home that resonates with both long-time customers and a new generation of healthy-meal seekers.

“For a brand as iconic as READ Salads, the website has to be as reliable and inviting as the products themselves. I utilized Elementor to build a custom, visually-driven experience that turns their recipe library into an interactive kitchen assistant, ensuring that for every generation of cooks, READ is the first choice for a quick, healthy meal.” — Doug Walker

The Challenge

READ Salads is a legacy brand with a presence in kitchens across the country, but their digital footprint needed to move from a static information site to an active engagement tool. The challenge was to design a platform that could handle a massive volume of recipe content and product variants while maintaining a lightweight, high-performance feel. We had to solve the puzzle of making a shelf-stable product feel “fresh” and modern through visual storytelling and interactive features.

The Strategy

The design strategy focused on “Ready-to-Eat Versatility.” We prioritized a layout that highlights the convenience and health benefits of their products, using bright colors and clean typography to mirror the “fresh from the can” quality. By organizing recipes into categories like “Appetizers” and “Main Dishes,” we positioned READ Salads as a versatile pantry staple for modern, busy families. The visual strategy emphasized the “READ My Lips” recipe contest and other promotions to drive community engagement.

The Solution

  • Custom Elementor Build: A fully bespoke design architecture that provides complete creative control over the brand’s visual narrative.

  • Interactive Recipe Database: A structured, searchable repository for appetizers, salads, and main dishes to increase user session time.
  • Integrated Product Locator: A high-visibility tool designed to drive in-store traffic and retail conversions.
  • Promotional Hub: Dedicated sections for contests and social media integration to foster brand loyalty.

The Result

READ Salads now possesses a polished, high-impact digital presence that successfully bridges the gap between a legacy brand and a modern audience. The site is fast, secure, and serves as a hard-working marketing tool that turns brand awareness into actionable meal planning. By modernizing their digital presence with Elementor, I’ve provided them with a flexible, scalable platform that continues to grow alongside their evolving product line.
